In 2022, the World Cup will be held in seven cities of Qatar (Al Shamal, Al Kor, Lusail, Umm Salal, Ar Rayyan, Doha, Al Wakra) in eight stadiums (Ahman bin Ali, Ras Abu Aboud, Lusail, Khalifa, Education City, Al Janub, Al Tumama, Al Beit) which have been successfully completed. This became known on July 15, 2020 from the publication of the International Football Federation. The tournament schedule is posted on its official website.
The opening will take place in late autumn (November 21, 2022) in El Khor at 11 am (CET) at the Al Beit Stadium, the stands of which can seat 60,000 people. The hosts of the tournament – the national team of Qatar will take part in the match. The group stage, in which 32 national teams will take part, will last until December 2 (it is planned to play 4 games a day). The 1/8 finals will begin the very next day (December 3-6), the quarter-finals – from December 9 to 10, the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup fell on the 13-14.
On December 17, there will be a consolation game for bronze in Doha. The final match of the 2022 World Cup will take place in the city of Lusail on December 18, under the supervision of 80,000 fans.
The FIFA World Cup will be held in Qatar for the first time. The previous World Cup was held in Russia in 2018, the victory was for the French team.
