The United States banned the import of dollar bills into Russia

US President Joe Biden signed a decree banning the supply of dollar bills to Russia. The text of the decree is published on the website of the White House.

“The following is prohibited:[…]export, re-export, sale or supply, directly or indirectly, from the United States or by a US resident, wherever located, of banknotes denominated in US dollars to the government of the Russian Federation or to any person located in the Russian Federation” , the decree says.

Also, Biden’s document banned new investments in any sector of the Russian economy, which may be determined by the US Treasury.

Earlier, Biden announced a ban on imports from Russia of caviar and other seafood, vodka and alcoholic beverages, as well as diamonds and diamonds.

It also introduces a ban on the export to Russia of luxury goods – cars, clothing and jewelry.

In addition to sanctions related to trade relations, the United States imposes blocking personal sanctions against “representatives of the Russian elite and their families.” The US freezes assets and accounts and bans people from entering the country.

Earlier today, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that the European Union is preparing a fourth round of sanctions against Russia. They may be announced in the coming days. French President Emmanuel Macron, in turn, said that the adoption of new sanctions will be directly related to a possible escalation of the conflict in Ukraine – if the situation worsens, then “there will be new massive sanctions.” The European Union is considering “various options” for the future, he said.

The European Union and other Western countries, including the UK and the US, began to impose personal and sectoral sanctions against Russia in connection with the recognition of the independence of the DNR and LNR, as well as after the start of a special operation in Ukraine. The sanctions affected the economic, financial and trade sectors to varying degrees, including banks and technology exports. Also, the US, EU, Switzerland and others have imposed a ban on transactions with Russian government agencies and the Central Bank.
